Have you seen that Cindy from Cation Designs and EmSewCrazy are hosting a Stashbusting Sewalong? As someone who loves to buy fabric, but doesn't always get around to every project in my head, this sounds like a great incentive to revisit some fabrics in my stash! Without further ado, here is my pledge:
I know that 10 stash pieces may not seem like much... I was originally going to commit to 12 (or 1-per-month), but I want to make sure that my goal is realistic and attainable. To make it fun, there are themes/challenges for each month! Here's the schedule:
To make this official, here's a picture of my stash. Most of it is neatly hanging in the spare room closet, but smaller pieces are in a big tub on the floor.
Yikes, it looks like a lot in this picture! I blame online fabric shopping! When you're buying online, it's really easy to add a yard of this or a yard of that, since you're paying for shipping anyway, you might as well add it on---right?!?
I'm already eying some Care Bear fabric for February's LOVE CHALLENGE! (Can you spot it?) Looking forward to thoughtfully using up more of my stash! Do you plan to participate?
I, Trisha from Made By Trisha, commit to using 10 pieces of stash fabric in 2013.

- January: Itty Bits! Sew up those remnants left over from another project, use up some of those tiny scraps that you've been saving...as long as it's less than a yard of fabric, it counts!
- February: THE LOVE CHALLENGE.
- March: Impending Seasonal Change. Regardless of your hemispherical location, the weather will be changing soon...what will you make? Something fun for the coming spring, or something cozy for fall?
- April: THE VIBRANT COLOR CHALLENGE.
- May: THE KNIT CHALLENGE.
- June: Containment! Get ready for those long car trips, summer outings or some good old fashioned cleaning and organizing! We're thinking bags, boxes, totes, purses, pouches, you name it; this month is all about making things to put other things in.

Is the Care Bear fabric the first one? lol - cute!! I thought about participating but then I thought it not this year - I'm still in my learning phases :)
ReplyDeleteBut I can't wait to see what everyone does! Your stash looks like you can make lots of pretty things from it
You found the Care Bears! :)
Deleteoh my gosh if you made some sexy lacey undies out of the care bear fabric that would be hilarious and awesome
ReplyDeleteHa ha! Awesome, but wrong!
DeleteOh, that's a good one! I should do that cause I already forced myself to use three pieces!
ReplyDeleteI spy some fabric in your stash that's also in mine! (The dark blue nautical flag stripe knit from Girl Charlee, I believe). What do you plan to make with it? I've had mine forever and can't really decide what it'd be best for.
ReplyDeleteAndrea--good eye! I originally thought I'd make a Cambie out of it, but it's stretchier than I thought it would be, so I haven't moved forward with that plan...
